Student Inter-District Transfers - 2024-2025

Grade Level Openings: Transfer of Openings Notice

Inter-District Transfers are for students who live outside of Junction City School District and want to attend a Junction City school. Families interested in applying for a transfer for the 2024-25 school year into a Junction City school can fill out the Inter-District Transfer Application and submit it to Stephanie White in the district office for processing. Please email [email protected] with any questions.

Student Transfers: If you live outside the Junction City School District, as a non-resident, your student may apply to attend one of our schools by completing a Student Transfer Application during the month of March. The deadline for application submissions is April 1st by 3:30pm.

Openings available are declared by school and grade level, and priority is given to non-resident students who are currently on an approved Inter-District Transfer. Applications received after April 1st, will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Interested non-resident students must fill out the Junction City School District Student Transfer Application form (The form is available from the websites the beginning of March.) Completed forms are submitted to the Junction City School District office by deadline date noted on the form. Accepted applicants are notified the beginning of May.

New requests will be approved from District A to District B only if there is available space at the requested school, the request falls within the number District A has declared to accept, and the number District B has declared to release.

Students in DHS Foster Care:  ORS 339.133 For students in DHS Child Welfare care and custody, the student will continue to attend the school district/school of origin. It is only with a Best Interest Finding, made by the Juvenile Court, that foster students will transition from the school district/school of origin to the school district where the foster home is located. (All Territorial students K-5th grade will begin school on September 4, 2024)

Laurel ES - 8:00am to 2:35pm.

45-Minute Early Release Days: Students will be released from school every Wednesday 45 minutes early.
Junction City HS - 8:25am to 2:35pm  
Oaklea MS - 8:10am to 2:10pm  
Laurel ES - 8:00am to 1:50pm

We want to welcome you to the Junction City School District. Thank you very much for taking the time to register your child(ren) for the 2024-2025 year.
 
Students new to the district can be enrolled through the on-line registration listed below, or register in-person August 15th during Central Registration. Families may not use addresses of relatives, friends, businesses or daycare to gain access into a school. For students in DHS Child Welfare care and custody, Click HERE for more information.
 
Central Registration:

All students who did not attend JCHS, Oaklea Middle, Laurel Elementary or Territorial Elementary the previous school year, (all grade levels) are considered new to the district and can register at Junction City High School during Central Registration. Enter through the front doors of the high school-you will directed to registration location. If you have already pre-registered your student via the online portal below, you do not have to attend Central Registration.
 
Central Registration is for JCHS, Oaklea Middle School, Laurel Elementary & Territorial Elementary.

For Online registration, please read through the below information.
 
After completing and receiving approval (an email that your registration has been accepted) Please call the school you registered your student in to set up an appointment for remaining forms and teacher/schedule information. (If registering your student during the summer months, please wait until August 16, 2024 to phone the school.)
 
Online registration is for registering students who have never attended JCHS, Oaklea Middle, Laurel Elementary or Territorial Elementary Schools previously. If your student has attended any of the Junction City schools in a prior year, please call the school on next steps to register them.

Parents should bring proof of address, their child's birth certificate and immunization records. (Birth Certificate and Immunization record can be brought in after registration if unable to locate.) 
Families may not use addresses of relatives, friends, businesses or daycare to gain access into a school.
 
Early Entrance Regulation Junction City
Early entry into school may be allowed for a student whose fifth birthday occurs after September 1st. Students who turn five after September 1st and before October 1st may be considered for early entry into kindergarten if they are determined to be sufficiently advanced to succeed in the educational program based on academic readiness, cognitive ability and social/emotional functioning and/or physical development AND confirmation of a successful preschool experience.
Your student may be eligible for early entrance to kindergarten if:
  • Fifth birthday is after September 1st and before October 1st
  • Has been determined to be sufficiently advanced
  • And there is confirmation of a successful preschool experience 
 
Per the Early Entrance Regulation, the application is due by the June 30th prior to the school year starting.

2024-25 Immunization Information
Shots are required by law for children in attendance at public and private schools, preschools, child care facilities, and Head Start programs in Oregon. Nearly every place that provides care for a child outside the home requires shots or a medical or nonmedical exemption to stay enrolled.
