The Junction City School Board is pleased to announce and welcome Dr. Katie Dawson as the new superintendent of the school district effective July 1st, 2026.
According to board chair, Kristina Holton, “We are very fortunate to have Katie joining our team. Her knowledge and passion will help our district continue to grow, ensuring that we focus on preparing every student today for every possible tomorrow.”
Dr. Katie Dawson has over 30 years of experience in education, most of which has been in the Springfield Public Schools District. She currently serves as Principal at Thurston Middle School and previously served as an assistant principal, and has experience supporting instructional improvement, MTSS implementation, and schoolwide culture and climate efforts. Dr. Dawson holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and an Oregon Professional Administrator License, along with graduate preparation in education.
Katie shared, “I am deeply honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve as the next superintendent of Junction City School District. Junction City is a community with a strong tradition of supporting its schools, and I look forward to working alongside the dedicated staff, students, families, and community members who make this district special. In the coming months, I am eager to listen and learn from the people who care deeply about these schools, and am excited to begin building relationships and working together to support the success of every Junction City student.”
