K-5 Science Curriculum
Mystery Science
Mystery Science was adopted and approved by the board in the spring of 2025 with implementation starting in the fall of 2025.
Mystery Science is an engaging K–5 science program designed to spark curiosity and excitement about the world. Each lesson begins with an interesting question—like “Why do cats purr?”—that encourages students to think, wonder, and explore.
Lessons are built around short videos, class discussions, and hands-on activities that help students investigate scientific ideas in a fun and meaningful way. Most activities use simple, everyday materials like paper, pencils, and common household items, making it easy for all students to participate.
Mystery Science is aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and covers important topics such as weather, the water cycle, plants and animals, forces, engineering, and more. Lessons typically last 30–60 minutes and are designed to be easy to follow while still promoting deep thinking and problem-solving.
