North and South Debate
For primary sources, mostly newspapers in which Northerners and Southerners frequently attack one another over important events in the last ten years before the war. You can get extra credit by paraphrasing their arguments, identifying bias ( loaded words, exaggerations, and one-sidedness.) You could also compare and contrast Southern and Northern reactions to a particular issue.
